As many as 56,952 labourers, mainly from rural and remote areas in Central Highlands provinces, have found new jobs since the beginning of this year.

According to the Central Highlands Steering Committee, more than 55,5 people got new jobs from economic development programmes in the localities while 1,410 others went abroad to work as guest workers .

Lam Dong province took the lead, providing jobs for over 17,800 people.

During the reviewed period, Central Highlands provinces set up a series of industrial craft, trade and service establishments and rubber companies, employing a huge number of ethnic minority people.

Along with creating employment, the provinces have taken measures to promote vocational training, by facilitating the building and expansion of establishment involved.

As a result, more than 35,600 ethnic minority workers have gained vocational skills. About 60-70 percent of them found new jobs after participating in training schemes.

Labourers who were educated as farmers are able to apply skills and knowledge to agricultural production, thus increasing farming and breeding productivity.

The moves have created stable employment for labourers in the Central Highlands , helping reduce poverty and improve income.-VNA
