Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Minister of Industry AgusGumiwang Kartasasmita has lauded Nestle Group’s plan to invest 100 million USDto expand its operations in Indonesia amidst the outbreak of COVID-19.
Agus said in a statement onSeptember 11 that Nestle’s additional investment is a right decision that hasnot only contributed to the growth of Indonesia’s manufacturing industry butalso the development of the company itself as one of the largest firms in theworld.
Managing Director of NestleIndonesia Ganesan Ampalavanar isoptimistic that the demands for daily necessities will still grow positively inIndonesia.
Therefore, as a company that has a long-termcommitment, Nestle believes it needs to increase its production capacity tomeet consumer demands, he explained.
Nestle,he continued, also provides guidance and partnerships with cattle breeders inEast Java to produce fresh milk as a food stock. Then, a similar programme hasbeen rolled out in Tanggamus, Lampung. The companybuys coffee from local farmers with a value of up to 1 trillion rupiah (67million USD) per year, most of which is raw materials for export./.
