Netherlands helps Mekong with climate change

Vietnam considers climate change resilienceas the country’s vital issue and mobilises resources from all of societyfor implementation of solutions, said PM Dung, adding that Vietnam isvery interested in the way the Netherlands has managed water resourcesand flood control.

He thanked Prof. Cees Veerman and hisassociates in helping Vietnam to build the Mekong Delta Master Planand asked the professor to continue coordinating and checking data andto formulate solutions in the context of water resource security issuesfacing Vietnam as a series of hydropower projects are being planned onthe Mekong River .

The PM also asked the professor and hisassociates to propose the Government of the Netherlands support partof the expense for building the plan in Vietnam .

Prof. CeesVeerman said that the Dutch had sent experts to Vietnam to coordinateresearch on coping with climate change in the Mekong Delta and a meetingwill be convened in Vietnam in November to gather reports to submitto the Prime Minister later this year.

With soil similaritybetween the Mekong Delta and the Netherlands , the European countrywants to share experience and transfer advanced technology and solutionson water resource management to Vietnam , he said.

Heaffirmed his intention to cooperate with relevant Vietnamese agencies tobuild a vision for the sustainable development of the Mekong Deltaduring the next 100 years.

Prof. Cees Veerman, former agricultureminister of the Netherlands , is interested in assisting Vietnamto deal with issues impacted by climate change. He accepted theinvitation to become head of the advisory group on climate change forthe Prime Minister.

Also the same day, PM Dung met with Speakerof the House of Representatives Gerdi Verbeet and the Vice President ofSenate of the Netherlands. /.

Storm brings heavy rains to northern Vietnam

Storm Narra, the fourth to hit the East Sea this year, brought strong winds and heavy rains to northern Vietnam on early August 22, with some areas forecast to receive more than 500mm of rain as the storm moves slowly over the northern waters of the East Sea.

The project is being implemented in the former Hoa Binh city, now Hoa Binh ward. It has a total investment of 688.7 billion VND (26.38 million USD), including 507.3 billion VND in ODA and 181.4 billion VND in counterpart funding. Major components include a wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, a collection network, and connection infrastructure.

Vietnam approves carbon credit pact with Singapore under Paris Agreement

Bac Ninh earmarks over 1.7 billion USD for environmental protection

By 2030, Bac Ninh aims to ensure that all operating industrial clusters and industrial parks have centralised wastewater treatment systems meeting standards, while at least 95% of wastewater in Grade-I urban areas and 70% in Grade-II urban areas is collected and treated to required standards.

Government adopts action programme on environmental protection, climate resilience

The programme aims to translate the Party's orientations into concrete actions while strengthening environmental governance, enhancing climate resilience, and promoting a green, circular and low-carbon economy. It will serve as the basis for ministries, sectors and localities to formulate implementation plans for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
