Vietnam and the Netherlands are set to increase cooperation in health and medical areas after a recent visit by Vietnamese health officials to the Netherlands from September 20-23.

Led by the Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, the Vietnamese delegation met with the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport to discuss a number of health projects with Vietnam.

They also had talks with representatives of various agencies and institutes in the Netherlands, including the Academy of Complementary Medicine (ACM), the Industrial Technology Institute (FME), the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), the Netherlands-Vietnam Medical Committee (MCVN) plus a number of medical equipment manufacturers.

Their talks covered healthcare management and cooperation between government agencies and the private sector to ensure basic public health services, the development of science and technology in the health sector and training for health professionals.

Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien informed her Dutch counterparts of the latest developments in Vietnam’s health sector and stated that Vietnam is looking for continued cooperation and support from the Netherlands as well as other international partners in the near future.

Vietnam is keen to improve its public health services, step up the development of human resources and fight against tuberculosis in the country./.
