A new outbreak of A/H1N1 flu has recently been identified at a secondary school in Dong Xa commune in the northern province of Bac Can, according to the Health Ministry.

As many as 144 pupils were diagnosed as having contracted the super-flu, showing typical symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, and muscle pain, as reported at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Combating Influenza in Humans in Hanoi on Jan. 27.

The pupils have all been treated at home under the supervision of local health workers. Half of them have already recovered, without any fatalities so far.

Meanwhile, an A/H1N1 outbreak in the Thuy Nguyen primary school in the northern city of Hai Phong has been got under control, showing no signs of spreading to the wider community, the municipal health department said.

By January 27, Vietnam has confirmed 11,166 A/H1N1 patients resulting in 56 fatalities./.
