Hanoi (VNA) – A flight connecting Hanoi and Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi province, was conducted on September 17, launching the first direct air route between the two localities.

The route is hoped to boost economic and tourism cooperation between the two localities.

The direct route helps shorten the air travel time between the two cities to three hours from six hours previously.

Run by Chinese low cost carrier Lucky Air, the flight operates every Wednesday and Sunday.

Prior to the direct route, flights from Nanchang to Vietnam stop over in other Chinese cities such as Xiamen and Wuhan.-VNA
