Authorities in Da Nang have asked the G overnment to issue more preferential policies for the central city with the aim of creating a new impetus for its rapid development , according to a local newspaper.
During the 2014 - 2015 period, Da Nang will ask for permission to initiate important projects which should create more breakthroughs in the progress of the central region , reported the Da Nang Today Online.
In detail, the city will implement the 2nd stage of the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital project, and the Da Nang International Airport will be upgraded to be able to handle over 6 million air passengers per year.
In addition, more support for local fishermen will be available to help them build high capacity offshore fishing vessels as well as encourage them to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty over its sea and islands.
The city will also implement the construction of a metro network, the UK-Viet n am University, scientific research institutes, and biotechnology, scientific information and technology centres.
By 2020, Da Nang will seek to increase the production capacity of local businesses as well as ensure the rapid growth of local services.There will be a continual shift of the city’s economic structure towards more services (55% - 56%), industry (41% - 42%) and agriculture (2% - 4%).
Incentive policies will be implemented to appeal for more large domestic and foreign groups and corporations to establish their headquarters in Da Nang or move their existing ones from other localities to here.
The city will also encourage the local business community to establish up to 2 private economic groups which possess great development potential, as well as having high competitive capacities in both domestic and international markets. Furthermore, the city will strive to ensure the synchronised development of its tourism, the local spearhead economic sector, with a focus on promoting luxury tourism. This will create a firm foundation for the city to develop its services.
Meanwhile, there will be more large-scale seaside tourism developments which meet national and international standards.
By 2015, the city’s authorities will prepare master plans for the construction of national-level tourist areas on the Son Tra Peninsula, at Ba Na Hills, and at the Van Village.
Special attention will be also paid to promoting domestic and foreign investment as well as appealing for more investment in the local hi-tech zones and the software and dedicated information technology parks.
In addition, priority will be given to implementing projects which are involved in health, education and training, trade, culture, sports, entertainment services, transportation, finance, tourism and other aspects.-VNA
