Thousands of ethnic students in the northern province of Ha Giang will study in new schools - gifts from the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank).
The bank inaugurated and handed over 11 social works, including five nursery schools, two primary schools, three secondary schools, and one general clinic, to the province on March 9 and 10.
The works were built at a total cost of 54 billion VND (2.5 million USD).
VietinBank also presented essential teaching and learning equipment to Ha Giang teachers and students.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, VietinBank Deputy General Director Nguyen Van Du affirmed this is one of the bank’s practical activities to realise its commitment to the province’s poverty reduction programme.
The bank pledges to continue to support Ha Giang’s economic development and poverty reduction schemes, he added.
Since 2009, VietinBank has provided over 200 billion VND (9.5 million USD) for the province’s six poorest districts to help residents escape poverty.-VNA
