New viaduct planned in Hanoi

The Ministry of Transport, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Hanoi People’s Committee are working on a joint project to build a viaduct in the western districts of Hanoi.

The new flyover will connect Mai Dich area in Cau Giay district with the southern end of Thang Long bridge in Tu Liem district.

The project will have a total investment of about 6.2 trillion VND (297.6 million USD). The 4.2km viaduct is designed to have four lanes and allow vehicles to run at 100 km/h.

According to Vu Xuan Hoa, Director of the Thang Long Project Management Board under the transport ministry, the construction will start at the end of 2015.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to solve traffic congestion problems in the new areas of Hanoi.-VNA
