The New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam , James Kember, on August 21 received the badge “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” for his contributions to relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the award ceremony in Hanoi , President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong said during Ambassador Kember’s term of office for the last three years, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and New Zealand have seen progress in all areas from politics to economics and trade.

At present, New Zealand ranks 38th out of 86 countries and territories that invest in Vietnam .

The country has officially been providing non-refundable aid to Vietnam since 1995. Its assistance is prioritised for human resource development, agriculture and rural development and healthcare.

New Zealand ’s non-governmental organisations have significantly helped Vietnamese people in the central region.

Ambassador James Kember said it was an honour for him to receive the award and reaffirmed that no matter what position he takes in future, he will continue to play his part in strengthening and developing friendship and cooperation between the two nations./.
