Border guards in the central province of Nghe An have broken up a large drug trafficking ring in Laos and Vietnam, arresting three suspects and seizing 18 cakes of heroin (7 kilograms) and 12,000 pills of meth.

On September 20, Nghe An border guards coordinated with police in Laos’ Xieng Khouang province to catch three Lao residents – Po Chua Ly, 45; Bun My Mua, 26; and Thong Gia, 30 – illegally trading the drugs at the Nam Chau guesthouse in Xieng Khouang’s Phonsavan town.

The suspects confessed that they planned to transport the drugs to Vietnam.

Vietnamese and Lao authorities are currently working together on the case.
