The central province of Nghe An held a ceremony in Vinh city on September 11 to mark the 85th anniversary of the Xo Viet-Nghe Tinh revolutionary movement against French forces (September 12, 1930-2015).
Prominent guests included Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh and former State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
At the celebration, Anh said as the first revolutionary movement of workers and peasants led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, theXo Viet- Nghe Tinh marked significant changes in peasant uprisings from spontaneous gatherings to self-conscious organisation.
It demonstrated the unyielding spirit, patriotism and revolutionary awareness of local people as well as the Party’s sound revolutionary guidelines and the leadership capacity of the working class, he stressed.
This was also the first rehearsal for the August Revolution in 1945, the Politburo member stressed.
On the occasion, Anh praised Nghe An province – where the struggle came to a head – for its achievements in socio-economic development and in ensuring national defence, security, political stability, social order and Party building.
He asked the locality to carry forward its revolutionary tradition and effectively tap its potential and advantages to spur economic development in a rapid and sustainable manner in tandem with changing the growth model and improving its competitive edge.
Nghe An was also urged to launch more emulation movements among the public and protect the nation’s independence, sovereignty and socialism.
Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Ho Duc Phoc said Nghe An is striving to take advantage of opportunities and overcome challenges, thus becoming a relatively wealthy locality as desired by late President Ho Chi Minh.-VNA
