A ceremony was held in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 21 to inaugurate the restored Nguyen Dynasty observatory Quan Tuong Dai.

Work on the tower, commenced from October 2012, is part of a project to preserve and upgrade Hue imperial city.

Quan Tuong Dai is located on Nam Minh fortress, in the southwest of Hue’s Citadel. It once served as the hydro-meteorological observatory for the Nguyen kings, before eventually being abandoned after their reign.-VNA
