The first Nha Trang International Marathon, will be held on Oct. 11 along the beautiful beach of the central city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province.

The competition which is one of activities to strengthen and develop relationship between Vietnam and Japan , includes three events of half-marathon, 10km and a 5km race which combines 2.5 km on road and 2.5 km on sand.

According to organisers, the marathon will offer the opportunity to promote Nha Trang, as a polite, friendly and hospitable city internationally.

The marathon would offer the chance for visitors to get to know locals, while popularising marathon events in Vietnam .

Nearly 130 athletes from a various countries have registered to take part in the tournament which is scheduled to become an annual event.

They will have chance to race against Mari Tanigawa, Japan ’s most famous runners.
Tanigawa who won golds in the Tokyo International Marathon in 1991 and 1994 and the Paris International Marathon in 1995 came to Vietnam to take part in a friendship race held in Da Lat city two years ago.

Part of the funds collected from the marathon which is live aired on Khanh Hoa province’s Television Station will be presented to local hospitals./.
