Nearly 7,000 tonnes of rice from the national reserves will be distributed to impoverished households in nine provinces across the country in this year’s between-crop period.

Under the Prime Minister’s decision No. 292/QĐ-TTg, the central provinces of Quang Ngai, Quang Binh and Quang Tri will receive 1,371 tonnes, 1,219 tonnes and 668 tonnes, respectively.

The northern provinces of Ha Nam and Ninh Binh will receive more than 1,280 tonnes and 265 tonnes, respectively, while the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau will get 847 tonnes.

The Central Highlands provinces of Gia Lai and Kon Tum will receive more than 475 tonnes and nearly 280 tonnes. Southern Ninh Thuan province will get more than 520 tonnes.

The PM asked the provincial People's Committees to promptly deliver the food aid to local residents. Provinces that still face difficulties after receiving the assistance can report to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
