The northern province of Ninh Binh on Mar. 30 celebrated the 20 th anniversary of its establishment and five years of establishment of the city with the same name.

Addressing the celebration, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised the province’s efforts and outcomes, saying that they have contributed to the country’s achievements over the past 20 years.

He urged Ninh Binh to uphold its spirit of dynamism and creativity and promote its potential and advantages to accelerate economic restructuring, serving the province’s comprehensive and sustainable economic growth.

The province should be active in international integration, expand export markets and develop tourism, turning it into one of the country’s key tourist centres.

The PM directed Ninh Binh to focus on Party and pure political system building tasks and accelerate administrative and legal reform.

Over the past 20 years of development, Ninh Binh province has seen unceasing development with a high economic growth rate, stability in defence and security and improved living conditions.

In 2011, the province’s GDP value rose 8.9 times higher than 1992; industrial production value and construction, 27.71 times; service value, 12.4 times; agriculture-forestry-fishery production value, 1.73 times.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Dung presented the Independence Order, second class, to the Party committee, authorities and people of Ninh Binh province.

Later the same day, PM Dung visited the Ninh Binh nitrogenous fertiliser plant at the Khanh Phu industrial zone, Yen Khanh district, which welcomed its first tonne of fertiliser.

The plant, a key project of the Vietnam National Chemical Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, began construction in 2008 and has a total investment of 660 million USD and an annual capacity of 560,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser.-VNA
