President Nguyen Minh Triet has proposed the southern province of Ninh Thuan have timely policies to further improve the lives of ex-prisoners who were detained in imperialist regime’s cells.

The State President made the request while receiving 46 former soldiers representing 860 members of the Ninh Thuan Patriotic Prisoners Association in Hanoi on Nov. 9.

President Triet expressed his admiration at the undaunted spirit of Ninh Thuan’s former prisoners and nationwide revolutionary soldiers in the country’s anti-imperialist war as well as his sympathy towards their hardship and losses that they had to suffer.

Revolutionary soldiers who were detained at these cells have proved their iron-like will, patriotism and faithfulness to the Party and the nation during the country’s past struggles, said the President.

Ninh Thuan remains a poor province, said President Triet, saying that the Central government has chosen Ninh Thuan as a destination for the construction of two nuclear power plants.

This is a big investment policy to facilitate the province’s comprehensive development in the future to help it bridge the development gap with other localities, he said.

He said he expected the Ninh Thuan ex-prisoners’ strong confidence in the province and the country’s future development./.
