Hanoi (VNA) – The Noi Bai International Airport will maintain from 50-54 check-in counters and instruct passengers to carry out web check-in, mobile check-in and self check-in at kiosks to serve high demand during Tet (Lunar New Year), a representative of the airport said on February 8.

The number of boarding gates at the airport’s Terminal 1 (which serves domestic flights) will increase to 16 while additional parking lots will be arranged at runway S1 to cope with overloading during the Tet holidays.

The airport authorities will join hands with ground service firms and customs force to speed up carousel and customs clearance, shortening the luggage-handling process, especially for international flights with large volume of passengers.

The airport’s staff is ordered to have appropriate behaviour when contacting with passengers.

Meanwhile, the repair of Terminal 1 will be halted from February 12 and the work will be resumed on February 21.

Measures will be taken to ensure social order and traffic safety at the airport.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (ACAV) ordered all airlines to obey safety regulations and improve operations to cut down flight delays and cancellations.

Safety examinations must be paid due attention to the busiest airports like Noi Bai, Vinh, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Tan Son Nhat, Phu Quoc and Can Tho.

The airlines must coordinate with relevant agencies to penalise any violations of security rules or unruly passengers.
