A concert of Scandinavian music will be performed by the Vietnam National Symphony and Orchestra (VNSO) with guest artists from Japan this week.

The VNSO's subscription concert will feature master pieces of Danish composer Carl Nielsen and Finnish composer Jean Siberius.

Performing with the VNSO for the first time, Japanese conductor Yasuo Shinozaki and violinist Takagi Kazuhiro will play Aladdin Suite; Violin Concerto and Symphony No 2.

Conductor Yasuo Shinozaki has acquired a truly international reputation for his emotionally direct style of music making and his musical knowledge. He first emerged on the international scene in Finland , winning the Second International Sibelius Conducting Competition in 2000.

Violinist Kazuhiro Takagi has been very widely recognised in Japan , winning the National Arts Festival's New Artist Award sponsored, the Osaka Cultural Festival's Grand Prize in 2005 and the Recorded Work Award at the 19th Music Pen Club Japan in 2007.

As an active soloist, he has played with a number of domestic and overseas orchestras including Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and Wuerttembergische Philfarmonie Reutlingen in Germany .

The two-night concert will start at 8pm on Mar. 23 and 24 at the Hanoi Opera House.-VNA
