Vietnam has become an important country for Norwegian enterprises, Finn Kristian Aamodt, acting President and CEO of Innovation Norway, has declared.

Talking to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Oslo on the eve of Crown Prince Haakon Magnus’s visit to Vietnam, Aamodt said the two countries are seeking to raise Vietnam’s export turnover to Norway to about 320 million USD and Norway’s to Vietnam to 230 million USD.

He also noted that Vietnamese companies can find many investment and business opportunities in his country.

Concurring with this point of view, Astri Sophie Platou, ‎Head of International Business under the Oslo Chamber of Commerce affirmed that her country’s participation in the European Economic Area (EEA) brings advantages to Vietnamese investors and enterprises. These will continue to grow when Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) have completed their negotiations over a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

She stressed that once signed, the agreement will help the Norwegian business community better understand and access the Vietnamese market.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Norway Le Thi Tuyet Mai stated that Vietnam will continue prioritising the negotiations as one of its key targets to further foster economic cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

In addition, both countries’ enterprises will also further intensify exchange and information sharing through forums to promote their cooperation in strong fields, such as aquatic products, oil and gas and clean energy.

Norwegian firms began to arrive in Vietnam in 2006 and they are still attempting to integrate into and expand their business in the country.-VNA
