Officials pay Christmas visits to Catholics

Wishing the Catholic dignitaries and followers of Thai Binh archdiocese a merry and happy Christmas, Doan noted that Catholic followers have during past years actively contributed to the socio-economic development achievements of Thai Binh.

Bishop Nguyen Van De affirmed his intention to continue encouraging Catholic dignitaries and believers to follow the Party and State’s guidelines, policies and the law, respect God, while joining hands with the entire nation to contribute to national development, particularly in the province.

On this occasion, Vice President Doan presented gifts to 10 Catholic families who are struggling with difficulties.

The same day, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Huynh Dam visited the Thanh Hoa bishop office .

Dam affirmed that Catholic followers nationwide, particularly in Thanh Hoa, upheld the tradition of patriotism and have enthusiastically taken part in national emulation movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
He expressed his wishes that the Archbishop of Thanh Hoa and Catholic followers will make further contributions to the nation, helping strengthen and enhance the national great unity bloc to realise the goal of building a strong country with rich people and a just and civilised society.

Archbishop Nguyen Chi Linh said that Catholic followers are pleased with preeminent religious policies, leading a good life both secular and religious, respecting God and loving the country.

Also on Dec. 22, Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council Ngo Thi Doan Thanh paid a Christmas visit to the bishop office in Hung Hoa Archdiocese in Son Tay town of Hanoi .

Bishop Vu Tat promised to continue encouraging Catholic dignitaries and believers to take part in emulation movements to further contribute to local and national socio-economic development./.
