Vietnam highly values the contributions made by former Soviet Union and Russian military specialists to the country during its wars of resistance against the French and US.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia, Bui Dinh Dinh, stated this at the annual meeting of former Soviet Union and Russian military specialists at the Vietnamese embassy in Moscow on August 5.
When he made his opening address, Ambassador Dinh highlighted the significance of the meeting and underlined the huge contributions made by the retired military specialists to Vietnam in its past struggles.
He highlighted the fact that with assistance from the Soviet Union, Vietnam successfully built up a strong, modern air defence force to deal with the US air force.
He said he hoped they would continue to contribute to the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between both peoples./.
