The Department for Preventive Medicine and Environment under the Ministry of Health on October 29 confirmed one more death from the A/H1N1 influenza, raising the total fatalities from the disease in the country so far to 36.

The latest fatality was a 37-week pregnant woman, 31, from the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak. She was hospitalised on October 14 with symptoms of fever, cough, breathing difficulties and pneumonia.

She developed respiratory distress and died on October 27. Samples subsequently tested positive for influenza virus type A/H1N1.

As of 17:00 the same day, Vietnam confirmed 10,568 A/H1N1 infections scattered across 59 provinces and cities nationwide. Of the infections, 10,286 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

The ministry continued to urge people, especially pregnant women, to go to health clinics for check-ups and treatment in case of showing any flu symptoms./.
