Only animal feeds registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will be authorised for import under a new Government regulation.
Decree No 08/210/ND-CP, taking effect on March 25, will authorize the confiscation of unlawful feeds being imported into the country, although farmers suffering losses would be compensated.
More broadly, the decree will ban the production, sale and distribution of feeds not on the ministry’s approved list and will provide for strict penalties for misleading advertising of such feeds. Domestic feed producers will also be required to employ labs for quality testing, maintain wastewater treatment systems and keep production logs for at least three years.
