A delegation of 17 companies from the Japanese city of Osaka presented advanced industrial technologies in various fields at a seminar on Jan.21, saying they saw HCM City as a place with high investment potential.
The delegation comprised businesses specialised in making metallic products, soil conditioners, embroidery and dress accessories, testing equipment and foodstuff.
Nguyen Trung Tin, deputy chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, said the seminar aimed to tighten cooperative ties in economics, trade and investment between Osaka and HCM City .
It was also a good opportunity for business circles from both countries to meet, exchange information and look for partners, he said.
“ HCM City businesses will be able to access the latest technologies in machinery making and construction materials, which are among Osaka ’s strengths,” Tin said.
The municipal administration was committed to creating the best possible conditions for Osaka businesses to invest in the city and would also provide information on the projects needing investment, he said.
The seminar would open up possibilities for long-term trade projects in the future, he added.
“ HCM City is still an economic hub, with many leading industries and services located here. More than 24,000 new enterprises were established in the city last year, ensuring stable economic growth despite the global economic crisis. Therefore, the city is an investment destination with high potential for Osaka investors, “ Tin affirmed.
Toru Hashimoto, governor of Osaka Prefecture , said the Osaka-HCM City relationship had seen important developments with the signing of an international exchange agreement on industry, trade and investment aiming to promote bilateral trade between the two countries.
Hidenao Yoichi, chairman of Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Osaka planned to focus future development efforts on three main industries: manufacturing, life science and tourism.
Of the more than 800 Japanese companies in Vietnam , well-known ones based in Osaka include Sharp, Panasonic, Sumiomo Electric, IK Inabata & Co Ltd and Marutaka. Osaka would provide free assistance to Vietnamese companies, he said.
The seminar was organised by the Osaka Association for the Asia Region Promotion Project in collaboration with the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry./.
