At the ceremony, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council presented the Second-class Fatherland Defense Order to the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations for their contributions to the UN peacekeeping mission over the past years, contributing to the cause of national defense.

A number of leaders of departments, ministries, branches, and commanders of units under the Ministry of National Defense were also honored for their outstanding contributions to peacekeeping activities.

Given the complicated developments of the current international affairs, the President said that peacekeeping operations face unpredictable changes. Therefore, Vietnamese forces participating in the operation needs to be positive, proactive, but cautious to dealt with the fluctuate situation.

The President believes that in the coming time, the Vietnamese blue beret soldiers will successfully fulfill the role of "Peace Ambassadors" in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission, contributing to promoting the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the eyes of international friends./.
