Professor Ngo Bao Chau, the Fields Medal winner, on March 13 shared his experience in teaching and learning with Vietnamese teachers and students at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

In his lecture, Chau highlighted the need to equip children with moral lessons and living skills, apart from academic knowledge.

In order to have good students, parents and teachers must set bright examples first, he said.

The scientist is scheduled to deliver lectures in Ho Chi Minh on March 15.

Chau’s lecture is part of the fourth event series “Bridges-Dialogues towards a Culture of Peace” launched in Southeast Asia .

It follows the successful “Bridges” series held in Thailand , the Philippines , Malaysia and Cambodia since 2003.

The aim of “Bridges” is to facilitate and strengthen dialogue between societies in Southeast Asia with their multiple cultures and faiths as well as with peoples in other parts of the world to promote understanding and trust.-VNA
