Over 1 mln pregnant women receive HIV/AIDS check

More than 1 million pregnant women in Vietnam have received HIV/AIDS tests, according to the Ministry of Health’s Department of HIV/AIDS Protection and Control.
More than 1 million pregnant women in Vietnam have received HIV/AIDS tests, according to the Ministry of Health’s Department of HIV/AIDS Protection and Control.

Over 2000 HIV-infected pregnant women have also been offered anti-retroviral therapies.

After five years of implementation, the HIV/AIDS protection and care project in Vietnam Phase 3 (LIFE-GAP) have been run in 28 central-level cities and hospitals.

It has also set up and maintained the operation of 47 community outreach groups, providing HIV/AIDS voluntary counseling and testing services at 58 clinics in 28 cities and provinces.

By 2012, methadone has also been provided to 4,000 drug users.-VNA
