The Ministry of Health on October 11 confirmed 65 more infection cases of type A/H1N1 influenza and the 23 rd death of the fatal virus, bringing the total number of infection cases in the country to more than 10,000.

The latest victim was a 14-year-old boy from Dak Soong commune, Krong Chro district of the central highlands province of Gia Lai who had a chronic kidney problem.

He got fever and lost appetite but was kept at home for self-treatment for nearly a month before being sent to the Krong Chro district hospital on October 5 in an exhausted physical condition and respiratory distress.

He was transferred to Gia Lai province hospital the same day and received intensive care and treatment for nearly three days but died on October 7. His samples were positive to type A/H1N1 influenza virus.

The total number of infected patients have climbed to 10,021, of which 23 have died and 9,057 been discharged from hospital, while the remainder is currently quarantined for treatment./.
