More than 170 Vietnamese and foreign enterprises are expected to take part in the 2014 Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2014), the most prestige of its kind in Vietnam, in Ho Chi Minh City on August 6-8.

This year, more than 300 booths will be installed on an area of 10,000 square metres at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre, showcasing various products from Vietnam as well as the country’s leading partners including Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and European countries.

There is an exclusive large space featuring Vietnamese products, aiming to boost the domestic market.

Held for the first time in 1998 by the Vietnam Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the annual event has created a playing ground for enterprises in the fisheries sector to boost their connectivity and seek partners, contributing to strengthening the trademarks of Vietnamese seafood in the global market.

From this year on, Vietfish will be held in August instead of June – a time when a number of big global exhibitions are often organised, including those in the US, Belgium and Japan. The change will enable local enterprises to set out a comfortable timetable for joining these events.

A number of activities will also be held within the framework of Vietfish 2014, including a conference with the participation of specialists from many organisations, including those from the Global Good Agriculture Practice (GlobalGAP), the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), the World Wild Fund (WFF) and the VASEP.-VNA
