Thai universities have pledged to provide more than 200 BA, MA and PhD scholarships for Vietnamese students at an education exhibition which opened in Hanoi on May 8.

The sixth Thailand Education Exhibition, co-organised by the National Education Commission of Thailand (NEC), the Thai Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, was the largest of its kind held in Vietnam so far, drawing 37 universities with 40 display pavilions and 156 educational officials from Thailand.

According to Prof. Dr. Phiniti Ratananukul, NEC Deputy General Secretary , Thailand now has 166 internationally-standard universities and about 1,000 Vietnamese students are studying in the country.

He expressed his hope that through such exhibition, the number of Vietnamese students in Thailand will sharply increase in the coming years.

In addition, such exhibition will help boost cooperation between Vietnamese and Thai universities as well as develop the education and human resources in the ASEAN region, he added.

The two-day exhibition is one of the events hosted by Thailand in Hanoi to introduce the Thai country, culture and people to Vietnamese, including a fair of Thai products and a cuisine and fruit festival. The first day of the exhibition attracted around 3,000 students from Hanoi ’s high schools and universities./.
