The government will allocate over 2.7 trillion VND (150 million USD) for the settlement of ethnic minority people between now and 2013.

Under a plan recently approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, the country strives to have basically completed the settlement of ethnic households with shifting cultivation habits nationwide by 2013.

Seventy percent of villages are expected to be accessible by roads, electricity and all ethnic households will be provided with housing, production land and water.

The poverty rate in settlement places is expected to decrease by 2-3 percent per year.

The Prime Minister has asked localities to encourage businesses, economic organisations and armed forces to join the process and strengthen the examination of the implementation of projects to avoid corruption and wastefulness./.
