Over 33,200 ships at sea updated on approaching storm

As many as 33,208 fishing vessels with 125,834 people on board working in the East Sea have been notified of the approaching Rammasun storm so that they can seek shelter on time, said the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control on July 15.

Thecommittee’s office said it sent a note on July 14 to authorities ofcoastal localities from northern Quang Ninh to southern Ba Ria – VungTau provinces urging them to swiftly brace for the storm Rammasun.

The Health Ministry and the Staff of the High Command of the BorderGuard Force have also instructed their local units to make preparationsfor it.

The Central Hydro-meteorological ForecastingCentre said at 7:00 am on July 15, the eye of the storm was at 12.7degrees north latitude, 125.6 degrees east longitude, and about 520kmeast-southeast of the Philippines’s Luzon Island. It packedmaximum wind speed at between 118 and 149km per hour.

In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to mainly move westwardsand later change its path to west-northwest at a speed of 20km.

By 7:00 am on July 16, Rammasun is predicted to be at 14.2 degreesnorth latitude and 121.2 degrees east longitude in the central region ofthe Philippines .

Meteorologists warned this is astrong storm with fast movements and complicated developments. It isexpected to cause rough sea in the eastern part of the East Sea afrom July 16 night.-VNA
