Natural disasters left 481 people dead or missing over the past 11 months, according to the General Statistics Office.

In addition, calamities destroyed public and private property, including 42,000 ha of rice and subsidiary crops, 11,000 ha of aquaculture area, 66km of dykes, 21.2 km of embankments, 1,200km of road, 25,000 houses, with a total in losses of 23.2 trillion VND.

The central province of Quang Ngai was the worst hit area with losses standing at 4.9 trillion VND. It was followed by the neighbouring province of Quang Nam with 3.6 trillion VND.

In November alone, Typhoon Mirinae caused flood and landslides in central and central highlands provinces, leaving 126 people dead or missing and exacting a financial loss of 5.6 trillion VND./.
