More than 875 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) was poured into Hanoi in the first six months of this year, a more than six-fold increase over the same period last year.

This information was provided by the Hanoi Department of Statistics, which said that the capital licensed 140 projects in the period.

The Department also said that investment capital for developing the capital city reached over 77.1 trillion VND in the first six months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 12.6 percent. Of the funds, state capital was up 11.7 percent, foreign capital, up 14.4 percent and FDI, 5 percent.

According to Director of the Department Cong Xuan Mui, apart from using the capital to complete necessary projects on technical infrastructure and society aiming to serve the agricultural and rural sector, the city’s authorities will also give priority to developing housing for students, training institutes and workers in industrial parks as well as people with low income in urban areas.

Authorities will enhance investment in some projects to improve the environment, such as Nam Son sewage treatment plant (phase 2), Son Tay sewage treatment plant (phase 2) and other treatment plants in some districts in the city./.
