Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – Over 90 percent of the population in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue is expected to be given access to clean water by 2020.

The goal was set by the Thua Thien-Hue Water Supply JSC, which has built a total of 4,400 km of pipelines and water plants with a daily capacity of over 200,000 cu.m.

Truong Cong Nam, Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, said the firm has met national technical standards on water quality as recognised by the Ministry of Health.

The company has installed drinking points in three- to five-star hotels, as well as 50 others for free in parks, hospitals, and schools.

It was certified as meeting ISO 9001:2000 quality standards in terms of drinking water supply in 2004 and its lab met the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards in 2007.

The firm upgraded and expanded its central lab, meeting an additional 30 criteria, installed water quality gauge equipment, and outlined a map on major polluting areas.

Since 2017, it has successfully launched projects to ensure sustainable water security and built a safe water supply trademark.

It received certificates of merit on safe water supply from the Ministry of Construction and the Water Supply and Sewerage Association, as well as was invited by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to international forums and seminars in Asia to share its experience. –VNA
