A 3.2km flyover connecting Thanh Xuan intersection to the north of Linh Dam Lake and a 50-km Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Highway intersection are set to open on June 30.

The flyover is part of a large project of a 9-km stretch with four lanes from Mai Dich street to the north of Linh Dam Lake worth 5.5 trillion VND (266 million USD).

The construction, including Civil Engineering Construction Company No.4 (Cienco 4), Cienco 8 and Thang Long Construction Corporation, first kicked off work in June 2010.

Khuong The Duy, deputy director of the Thang Long Construction Corporation, said 97 percent of the workload has been completed.

The lighting system has also been installed, he added.

Hiroaki Mukaichi, supervising director, said the quality of the flyover is ensured despite construction finishing five months ahead of schedule.

Vu Xuan Hoa, director of the management board, said the flyover will reduce traffic congestion from Linh Dam Lake to Thanh Xuan intersection.

On the same day, the Ministry of Transport also plans to open the 50-km Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Highway connecting Hanoi and Ninh Binh province, designed with six lanes and a speed of 100-120kmh.

Road users are expected to save more time traveling from Hanoi to Ninh Binh when the highway intersection opens.

The Vietnam Expressway Corporation started the highway’s construction in 2006 with a budget of around 8.9 trillion VND (431 million USD).-VNA
