On the threshold of the traditional Tet holiday, Vietnamese embassies in countries over the globe are continuing to organise celebrations for expatriates.
In the Republic of Korea, embassy officials along with overseas Vietnamese in the country held a party on January 29 to welcome the Lunar New Year.
The embassy’s representatives also invited several outstanding overseas Vietnamese families in the capital city of Seoul.
On the evening of January 28, a large number of Vietnamese people living in South Africa filled the Pretoria-based embassy for a Tet rendezvous.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Le Huy Hoang showed his delight at the growing ties between Vietnam and South Africa, saying increased diplomatic activities in 2013 have helped lift the two-way trade to nearly 1 million USD, up 16 percent over 2012.
The same day, the Vietnamese community in Sri Lanka had a chance to enjoy traditional Tet dishes along with a special art music show performed by artists from their homeland.
Previously, representatives of the embassy and overseas Vietnamese in Sri Lanka offered incense and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at a new-inaugurated memorial park dedicated to him located at the Colombo Public Library.-VNA
