The embassies of Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Mexico , Argentina and France have organised various activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

The staff of the Vietnamese embassy and representative agencies in Mexico joined a number of Vietnamese students and doctors who are studying and working in the Mexican capital paid a floral tribute to Uncle Ho at his statue in Cuauhtemoc district.

Ambassador Pham Van Que briefed the participants of the achievements the Vietnamese representative agencies in Mexico obtained during in 2009.

The ambassador informed a plan to build another statue of Uncle Ho in the southern state of Guerrero, which is scheduled to be complete on the 120 th birthday of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).

As part of the celebrations for the traditional Tet festival, the embassy of Vietnam in Argentina hosted a function on February 14, drawing the participation of hundreds of OVs and representatives from Vietnamese agencies in the country.

Ambassador Thai Van Lung spoke highly of the sentiments the OVs in Argentina have extended to the home country and affirmed that the Party and State always consider the Vietnamese community abroad an integral part of the nation.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Le Kinh Tai joined OVs in Paris at a peace praying ceremony at the Truc Lam Monastery, and visited monks and nuns at the Khuong Viet pagoda./.
