Nearly 180 representatives from 29 sections of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Russia convened the second congress in Moscow on Nov. 1.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Bui Dinh Dinh and President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association Vladimir Buiyanov attended the event.

The Acting President of the OV Association in Russia Do Xuan Hoang reviewed the association’s achievements in socio-cultural, humanitarian and charity, diplomatic fields as from its first congress in January 2004.

The association also put forth tasks for the second term of 2009-2013, that focus on assisting the community to adjust business forms to the new situation, intensify cooperation in economy, tourism and investment in the homeland, further traditional friendship and cooperation with the residential localities and actively respond to humanitarian activities launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Committee for OV and the Vietnamese Embassy.

The congress selected the new executive board of 56 members chaired by Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of the KGB Group and First Deputy Chairman of the TechcomBank./.
