The first Overseas Vietnamese Conference will be held in Hanoi from No. 21-23 under the theme “For a community of strong solidarity, contributing to national construction”.

At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press briefing in Hanoi on Nov. 5, the ministry’s spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga announced this, adding that nearly 1,000 overseas Vietnamese and 400 domestic delegates have registered to participate in the event.

The spokesperson further said that the conference will be an important forum to tap the brainpower of overseas Vietnamese community to accelerate national construction.

The conference will focus discussions on four major topics--building a strong overseas Vietnamese community working in solidarity with their homeland, maintaining and developing traditional Vietnamese culture and customs in communities abroad; and encouraging overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and entrepreneurs to contribute to national construction./.
