Vietnam’s Embassies in the Czech Republic and Indonesia on February 12 held meetings for the Vietnamese communities there to welcome the 2015 Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.
Vietnam’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Truong Manh Son, emphasised that Vietnam will mark many important events in 2015 such as the 40th anniversary of the country’s unification and the 70th national day as well as State President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to the Czech Republic.
He called for the Vietnamese community to welcome those events with practical acts.
Hoang Dinh Thang, Chairman of the Vietnamese Community in the Czech Republic, said he hoped achievements in the strengthening and development of the friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic would move to a new level.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Nguyen Xuan Thuy, affirmed the State and Party’s consistent policy of considering overseas Vietnamese an inseparable part of Vietnamese people.
Thuy expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Indonesia continues staying united, supporting each other, preserving national identities and together building the home country.
He also encouraged the Vietnamese in Indonesia to act as a bridge to further promote the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
Trade between Vietnam and Indonesia reached 5.3 billion USD in 2014, exceeding the target of 5 billion USD set for 2015, Thuy said.-VNA
