Pacific Airlift Rally (PAR) 2013, co-hosted by the US and the Royal Cambodian Air Forces, is taking place in Cambodia from June 3.
PAR participants include Cambodia, the US, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, India, Indonesia, Laos, Maldives, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, and Vietnam.
The five-day drill is a simulation of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations jointly launched by air and ground forces, with the participation of Cambodian and international troops.
Drill-related events include symposiums to share experience to increase coordination between air and land forces in humanitarian assistance and relief activities in case of natural disasters.
Biennially organised, PAR enhances airlift coordination among Asian-Pacific nations in humanitarian assistance.
Last drill was hosted by Malaysia in 2011 and in Sri Lanka two years earlier.-VNA
