Vietnam sets an example of enormous efforts in rising from the ashes of war, Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo has said.

The Paraguayan President delivered the comment while meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Dao in his residence on October 26.

The host and guest discussed socio-economic situations in Vietnam over the past time, especially the country’s renewal experiences.

President Lugo applauded Vietnam not only as an important emerging market, but also a nation with increasing position in the world arena, mentioning the country’s capacity as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and ASEAN Chair.

He stressed that his country is resolved to develop diplomatic, politic, economic and cultural ties with Vietnam and expressed his wishes that Vietnam will attend the 200 th anniversary of Paraguay ’s National Day in 2011.

For his part, Ambassador Dao conveyed greetings of State President Nguyen Minh Triet to President Lugo, saying Vietnam is willing to cooperate with Paraguay to develop multi-faceted relations for benefits of the two peoples and governments./.
