Party chief meets Thai legislative leaders

During their meetings in Bangkok on June 26, the Vietnamese Party leader and Thai President of the National Assembly (NA) cum Speaker of the House of Representative Somsak Kiatsuranont, and Senate President Nikom Wairatpanij agreed that the partnership will lay a firm foundation for the two countries to deepen their cooperation both bilaterally and in multilateral frameworks, in the interest of the two peoples, as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

They appreciated the strong development of the cooperation over recent years between the parties, legislative bodies, governments and people of the two countries.

The legislative leaders of Thailand said the visit of General Secretary Trong has an important significance and proposed that the two countries strengthen their cooperation in all fields, especially in rice production and trade.

For his part, General Secretary Trong briefed the hosts on the result of his meeting with the Thai PM, as well as major orientations and detailed measures to foster the multifaceted ties between the two countries in the coming time.

The Vietnamese Party leader welcomed the cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in practical and appropriate forms, including maintaining the annual exchange of visits to enhance mutual trust and understanding, boosting cooperation in monitoring the implementation of signed agreements and treaties, as well as supporting each other at regional forums.

Hosts and guest expressed their belief that ASEAN member nations will enhance solidarity, cooperation, and work together to deal with international and regional multilateral issues, including those related to the East Sea .

General Secretary Trong called upon the hosts to help create favourable conditions for Vietnamese overseas in Thailand in their livelihood and businesses, who he said will serve as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.-VNA
