Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on October 12 for Honorary President of the Cambodian People’s Party and Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin who is in Vietnam to attend the funeral for General Vo Nguyen Giap.
Party leader Trong thanked King Norodom Sihamoni, Cambodian leaders and people for their condolences to the Vietnamese Party, State, National Assembly and people over the passing of General Giap.
He said he believes under the clear-sighted reign of the King and the leadership of the legislature and Government, the Cambodian people will overcome difficulties to maintain peace and stability for national development.
The same day, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Heng Samrin discussed major orientations to foster cooperation between the two legislatures.-VNA
