Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh witnessed the signing of three cooperation documents between the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and the Russian Zarubezneft Company during his visit to the Russian company on July 11.

According to the signed documents, the two groups agreed to continue to confirm a plan to transform their Vietsovpetro Joint Venture company into a new form of enterprise, exploit the oilfield in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, and continue to expand oil and gas production in Vietnam, Russia and third countries.

Talking with the Zarubezhneft staff, the Party Chief affirmed that the Vietsovpetro JV with the Zarubezhneft partner, has always played the leading role in the Vietnamese oil and gas industry, contributing greatly to  Vietnam’s national economic growth while bringing a great deal of benefits to Russia.

He noted that the two groups’ current joint project being carried out in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District will be a milestone that will build confidence among the concerned parties and encourage them to continue carrying out other cooperation projects in Russia and other countries.

On the occasion, the Party Chief expressed gratitude to various generations of workers and experts of the former Soviet Union and current Russia as well for their significant contributions to Vietnam’s oil and gas industry.

Earlier, Party General Secretary Manh visited the Vietnamese embassy in Russia and talked with representatives of the Vietnamese community there.

In the afternoon of July 11, the Vietnamese leader left Moscow for Saint Petersburg, continuing his official visit to Russia.

During his stay in Russia, which commenced on July 8, the Party Chief met with President Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, Moscow Mayor Yury Mikhaylovich Luzhkov, and Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov./.
