Party Chief’s US visit: cooperation agreements inked

Vietnam and the US have signed four cooperation documents in finance, civil aviation, tariffs and United Nations peacekeeping on the occasion of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to the US.

The signing took place at the headquarters of the US Department of State on July 7 (local time).

VietnameseDeputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai and US Under Secretary of Statefor Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Catherine Ann Novelli,on behalf of the two Governments, inked an agreement on double taxavoidance and fiscal evasion prevention.

Meanwhile, VietnameseDeputy Minister of Defence Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh andU.S. Assistant Secretary of Defence for Asian and Pacific SecurityAffairs David B. Shear signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) oncooperating in peace keeping .

Vietnamese Ambassador to the USPham Quang Vinh and Assistant Administrator of the US Agency forInternational Development (USAID)'s Asia Bureau Jonathan Stiversrepresented the two countries to ink a MoU between Vietnamese Ministryof Agriculture and Rural Development and USAID regarding the emergingpandemic threats programme and global health security agenda.

Anagreement on technical assistance for the aviation safety projectbetween the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) and theUS Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) was signed.-VNA

Indian Defence Minister pays official visit to Vietnam

Following the ceremony, the two sides held talks during which the Vietnamese minister emphasised the significance of the visit as the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and recently upgraded ties to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership under the spirit of “Shared Vision, Strategic Convergence and Substantive Cooperation,” during the state visit to India by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam from May 5-8.
