Party delegation attends poverty seminar in China

A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has participated in the International Conference of Asian Political Parties seminar on poverty reduction in Kunming, China’s Yunnan province, from July 13-20.
A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has participated in the International Conference of Asian Political Parties seminar on poverty reduction in Kunming, China’s Yunnan province, from July 13-20.

Themed “Poverty Reduction and Alleviation: Common Responsibility of Asian Political Parties”, the seminar drew the participation of leaders and representatives of 55 political parties from 28 countries in the Asia-Pacific and African regions.

The seminar, hosted by the Communist Party of China (CPC), adopted the Kunming Declaration, which stresses that poverty reduction is a historical mission of political parties in Asia and voices strong support for the UN’s efforts in accelerating the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The participants also approved an initiative to set up the Asian Poverty Prevention Fund and the Asian Micro-finance Fund.

On the occasion, the CPV delegation, led by Vuong Thua Phong, Deputy Director of CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, attended the 13 th session of the ICAPP Standing Committee and worked with Deputy Director of the CPC Central Committee’s International Liaison Department Liu Jieyi./.
