Themed “Poverty Reduction andAlleviation: Common Responsibility of Asian Political Parties”, theseminar drew the participation of leaders and representatives of 55political parties from 28 countries in the Asia-Pacific and Africanregions.
The seminar, hosted by the CommunistParty of China (CPC), adopted the Kunming Declaration, which stressesthat poverty reduction is a historical mission of political parties inAsia and voices strong support for the UN’s efforts in accelerating theimplementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The participants also approved an initiative to set up theAsian Poverty Prevention Fund and the Asian Micro-finance Fund.
On the occasion, the CPV delegation, led by Vuong ThuaPhong, Deputy Director of CPV Central Committee’s Commission forExternal Relations, attended the 13 th session of the ICAPP StandingCommittee and worked with Deputy Director of the CPC Central Committee’sInternational Liaison Department Liu Jieyi./.
