A delegation of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation on May 12 paid a visit to the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at Tu Dam pagoda in the central city of Hue on the occasion of the 2555th birthday of Lord Buddha.

Commission Deputy Head Nguyen Manh Hung, who led the delegation, conveyed his best wishes to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers on the occasion.

He expressed his hope that the VBS Thua Thien-Hue chapter will continue encouraging monks, nuns and followers to contribute to the national construction, hunger elimination and poverty reduction and maintaining the national unity.

Most Venerable Thich Giac Quang, Deputy Head of the provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Standing Committee, thanked the Party and authorities at all levels for their attention to Buddhist activities and affirmed that all Vietnamese Buddhist monks, nuns and followers will continue to unite with people nationwide in a journey with the nation.

The Buddhist Sangha in Thua Thien – Hue province, dubbed the country’s Buddhist capital, has actively contributed to the country’s development in terms of politics, economics, culture and society.

A large number of Buddhists have become deputies of the National Assembly, the People’s Councils at all levels and social organisations.

The province has also created favourable conditions to upgrade Buddhist establishments such as Thien Mu, Ha Trung and Thanh Duyen pagodas./.
